Summary:East Meadow waterways came in all shapes and sizes. Through a hole in a wire fence, fellow cyclists and I would venture into the thin strip of woods that insulates the expansive split-levels of East Meadow's western border from Meadowbrook Parkway. We'd corral our bikes by a near-dead brook, a mere shadow of what once inspired the parkway's name (no doubt depleted with the region's water table). Maybe that's why I've taken to jogging on spring mornings. Braving the truck exhaust and occasional rude motorists of Hempstead Turnpike, I dip north into Eisenhower Park's deserted one-mile course. Here, the low sun pokes through mist-curtained picnic grounds.A dove coos soulfully. Along this path, dawn arrives damp and sweet. *** BRIEFING Population: 41,210 Median age: 35 Median family income: $46,116 School district: East Meadow SOURCE: Donnelly Demographics 1) Newsday Color Photo by Bill Davis-Doing business at East Meadow Plaza. 2) Newsday Color Photo by Bill Davis-At East Meadow Cue Club, Ken Hublitz, center watches son Ken, righat, line up a shot in game with brother Michael, left, and cousin Keith Mastandrea. 3) Newsday Chart-BRIEFING-Brief information about East Meadow.
