Summary: | Even so, that didn't stop [Jim Byrnes] from pursuing his career as an entertainer. As leader of the Jim Byrnes Band, a Vancouver blues outfit, Byrnes has spent the past 15 years performing in Western Canada and the Northwest U.S. "I wear prostheses and play my guitar while sitting on a stool," Byrnes says, anticipating what is surely his most frequently asked question. "So did Muddy Waters," he added. "Play on a stool, that is." - David Friedman "Producers keep wanting to give [Larry, Darryl] and Darryl a series of their own," [John Voldstad] says. "Two weeks ago, one asked if we'd do a sitcom where we go to Hollywood to be in movies. It would be a `Beverly Hillbillies' for the '80s. But we couldn't spin off until `[Newhart]' ends, which isn't likely now." That's okay with Voldstad. "We've been in 45 episodes, and there have been maybe 126 in all." Their appearances on "Newhart" have multiplied with their popularity. That's fine, too: Voldstad, Bill Sanderson (Larry) and Tony Papenfuss (the other Darryl) are paid only for episodes they're on. |
