Summary: | We continually hear from the proponents that "We the People" can bring a change. Yet look at the contributors to the pro- consolidation side. As of Sept. 15, $65,000 had been collected by HUGPAC, the pro-consolidation political action committee. Sixty-four percent or $41,765 is in contributions of $1,000 or more; 80 percent or $51,995 is in contributions of $100 or more. The anti- consolidation political action committees, on the other hand, are running on $5, $10 or $20 contributions. It appears that big money rather than grassroots is behind consolidation. |
