Summary: | RED DEER, Alta. - Alberta Treasurer Stockwell Day wants the Red Deer museum to return $10,000 in lotteries money because it is doing a study on gays. The museum is gathering photographs, taped conversations and historical facts to document the lives of homosexuals in Alberta, particularly in the Red Deer area, as well as the experiences of gay organizations and events. Research began about three years ago. Day and fellow Red Deer MLA Victor Doerksen say they have fielded nearly 60 calls opposing the grant since it was reported in the Red Deer Advocate last Saturday. One caller was supportive, said Doerksen. |
