| Summary: | Manatee Community College's student newspaper staff recently broke previous records by winning 10 individual awards for work published last year in The Lance. The awards were presented at the Florida Community College Press Association convention in Daytona Beach. Brian Bonfoni won a first-place award in the news photo category. Second-place winners were: Lori Voth, feature story; Gretchen Klose, sports photo; Jennifer Anderson, sports column; Candy Martin, editorial cartoon; David Sheppard, arts review; and Gabriella Woellner, comic strip. All teachers listed in the publication were selected by one or more students who are listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students or The National Dean's List. Cover earned two bachelor's degrees - one in biology and another in chemisty - and a master's degree in biology, at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. She also holds a doctorate's degree in zoology from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla. |
