Summary: | I'll admit I'm young -- I'm 27 -- and I was born, raised and bought my own house on the escarpment, so my attachment to the downtown core is not as loyal as some. I'll also admit that the architecture of these old buildings is charming, but the street-level boarded-up storefronts are not, and in my 27 years I've only seen more and more of these storefronts closed and boarded. I can point out broken windows that I can remember seeing broken from the age of five, when my mom would take my sister and me on the bus to Woolworth's for back-to-school shopping. |
