Summary: | 1. To turn over, by default, the decision about health care delivery in Hamilton to a narrow-focus provincial agency, when a community-derived solution is already on the table, would be disastrous. The restructuring agency has a stated mandate to ignore the concerns of the community. Rather, the recommendations of the Hamilton Academic Health Network (AHCN), developed through a wide collaboration of users and consumers of health care and supported wholeheartedly by the community, should be adopted. 4. The governance of health care delivery in Hamilton should include a more significant representation by health care providers. They clearly have the expertise and experience in managing and funding health care in the region, and have been leaders in the provision of efficient, regionalized, integrated care for at least 20 years. Hamilton has every right to be proud of its regionalized health programs. |
