Summary: | Scott Perry from the Conservation Commission said buying a 13- acre parcel on Goodrich Street between the Stillman Farm and a piece of conservation land would be compatible with Lunenburg's open space plan. The property meets all the standard criteria the Conservation Commission uses for justifying the purchase of land, he said. If Lunenburg does not buy this 16-acre lot, at the asking price of $225,000, the owner may sell it to a cellular telephone tower company, she said. A tower in the neighborhood would "scar the residential area," Mrs. [Marion M. Benson] said. Selectmen also offered their condolences to the family of Raymond A. Powell, who owned and operated Powell Sand and Gravel Co. for more than 30 years and was active in local youth sports. Mr. Powell died Friday at his home after a long illness. |
