Summary:Instead, Mr. Short temporarily moved in with chamber member William D. Kelleher Jr. and his wife and children and became, as Mr. Kelleher says, "part of our family." Last night, 25 years after Mr. Short arrived, a significantly healthier Worcester Area Chamber of Commerce threw a splashy retirement party at the Worcester Centrum Centre for the chamber president and chief executive who some said has become part of their extended families. Outside the ballroom where about 575 people gathered to honor Mr. Short last night, organizers posted letters from politicians and proclamations congratulating Mr. Short. Mayor Raymond V. Mariano also presented a city proclamation declaring April 12 "Bill Short Day."
