Summary: | [Kevin J. Anderson], a writer living in Monument best-known as coauthor of the "Dune" prequels and author of science-fiction novels such as his "Saga of the Seven Suns" series, has done some comic-book writing for Dark Horse Comics and other publishers. This will be his first time playing in DC's and Marvel's sandboxes. So although a few names may be familiar to longtime readers, this is essentially a new crew of Starjammers, with no connections to the X-Men. The story, Anderson says, is "a coming-of-age story." At its heart is Tolo Hawk, who has been fighting for his government but finds things are not as they seem after he is kidnapped by the Starjammers. The Golden Age of comics also was the golden age of pulp science- fiction magazines, Anderson says. "JSA: Strange Adventures" features a legendary real-life writer from that era, Jack Williamson. Anderson got permission from Williamson, who is in his 90s and continues to write, to use him in the story. |
