Summary:Evidently [Pato Banton] is paying the price of his idealism. Yet undaunted the U.K. reggae star, who is at the Town Pump tonight, continues on his mission, which more or less is summed up by the proposed LP title. Let down by its American label, weathering a vituperative break with its manager, seeing its record sales drop and band members split, the Niagara Falls band was reduced to singer Johnny Dee and guitarist Derry Grehan when keyboard player Ray Coburn, who'd left the band some years before, at the height of its popularity, returned. Honeymoon Suite's personal victory -- by its own standards an artistic success -- hasn't been a commercial triumph. Time and recession have eroded its popularity base in Canada, but the band started in bars and is working its way back the same way -- Honeymoon Suite is at 86th Street tonight and tomorrow with Fools Parade (aka Graffitti) opening.
