Summary: | [Kwan] was for many years a stalwart of the Selangor Malaya Cup team. The trio of Mohd Ismail, A.L. Henry and Kwan won numerous honours for Selangor. After WWII, Kwan moved to Negri Sembilan. [Henry] continued to captain the Selangor team in 1948, and making his debut for Selangor was Henry's nephew Edwin Dutton, who in later years was to captain the Malayan team. For years Singapore produced some of the finest players in the region - from the incomparable Dolfattah and Mat Nor (who was less than 1.5m tall) to the likes of Sharif Madon, Abdul Rahman, Harith Omar, Awang Bakar, Chia Boon Leong and Choo Chee Seng; the last two played for China in the London Olympics in 1948. |
