Summary: | The spinoff, expected by the end of this year, will make Bally's Health & Tennis Corp. a separate company. Bally shareholders will receive stock in the new company. The company operates resorts in Atlantic City and Las Vegas. The prospect of organized crime moving into Indian gaming risks the credibility gained by casinos in Nevada and New Jersey with their patrons, Rep. Robert Torricelli said in Washington. The New Jersey Democrat's warnings to the Senate Select Committee on Indian Affairs about the mob were criticized by some panel members. They said little evidence exists of criminal penetration into Indian casinos, and one suggested the concerns were patronizing and driven more by a desire to protect Atlantic City from outside competition. |
