Summary: | Evidence of that relationship includes [John G. Rowland]'s personal use of Tomasso-owned properties for vacations, parties and political fund- raisers; the anointing of both [William A. Tomasso] and Michael Tomasso as policy advisers within the administration; and jobs for at least one Rowland aide at a Tomasso company. One Rowland aide, Lawrence E. Alibozek, has already pleaded guilty to steering state contracts to the Tomasso family in exchange for gold and cash. Alibozek has also provided information that has led the FBI to begin investigations of William Tomasso and Rowland's former co-chief of staff, Peter N. Ellef. More than one official has left a state post during Rowland's tenure to work for the Tomassos. For example, after John Chapin, now a lobbyist, stepped down as Rowland's press secretary during the governor's first term, he got a job at Tunxis Management, the Tomasso firm that manages many buildings and properties, including the offices of several state agencies. |
