Summary:While Adriaen's Landing and a stadium may give Hartford a much- needed morale boost, what this area really needs is a competitive advantage to attract entrepreneurial businesses and experts based on the new economy. In today's global markets, where businesses can be located almost anywhere, entrepreneurs look for three things: proximity to established synergistic businesses with talented risk-taking managers and workers, innovative and creative technical personnel, and capital. But they generally are in non-entrepreneurial, old-economy businesses -- insurance, aerospace, health care services and defense.
