Summary:A controversial liquor-license application was approved in Gibson City when Mayor Brady Peters, who also is the city's liquor commissioner, broke a tie vote in favor. The council learned Gibson City has by far the most liquor licenses in Ford County. With a population of 3,373, Gibson City has 17 liquor licenses. Paxton, population 4,525, has six liquor licenses. Village officials said the report was based on a 1997 Illinois Environmental Protection Agency water test, so they were puzzled as to why the Illinois Democrat's office cited Saybrook in its report now.
