Summary:That same year Premier Klein also reduced the number of caucus committees from 20 to four standing policy committees. The chairman of each committee receives a $22,400 salary, for a total annual income of $77,000. Committee chair salaries have always been public information and were not, as suggested, recently revealed. I am the chairman of the standing policy committee on agriculture and rural development, which is responsible for generating new ideas. We also review existing programs, services, legislation and budgets for four departments: agriculture, food and rural development, municipal affairs, public works, supply and services, transportation and utilities.
