Summary:The largest concentration of people - over 4,000 at its peak - gathered for a peaceful afternoon rally in Trafalgar Square. The demonstration, traditionally organised by the Trades Union Congress in defence of workers' rights, was largely made up of trades unionists, students, and anti-war, pro-Palestinian and Kurdish groups. Scuffles first broke out in the early afternoon, when police moved in to control and contain some 300 protesters who had gathered outside the London headquarters of Lockheed Martin, the US defence company, in High Holborn.
