Summary:Greece kept close political and economic ties with the [Slobodan Milosevic] regime during the Balkan wars of the 1990s. Mr Milosevic owned property and kept a yacht in Greece, while Athens-based companies supplied Belgrade with petroleum products in defiance of UN sanctions against the former Yugoslavia, with the collusion of Greek authorities. Mladjan Dinkic, the Serbian central bank governor, says Mr Milosevic and his family deposited money in some 50 countries. In trying to trace Milosevic-era transfers, investigations by the UN tribunal have focused on Cyprus and offshore havens with close ties to Belgrade.
