Summary: | My second idea is to make the driving age 17, but still let the teenager get his or her permit at 15. This will also give the teenager extra experience. When I told adults my ideas about lowering the age to 14, they became concerned about 14 being too young. I encourage moving the age to 17, but still letting the teen have two years of experience toward driving. Many adults also think schools should teach driver's education again. They believe that it helped them, and that it would help young adults, too. I agree on this also. If you think about it, their suggestion is similar to what I have to say --- give teens more time to learn driving skills so that when they are able to drive, they will have experience. There will always be the kind of people that no matter what, will speed and race. But why punish everybody on a thing that he or she has been waiting for so long to get? As for class time --- think about the priorities that would be occurring for just one semester. Band vs. driver's ed? P.E. vs. driver's ed? If you're dead, you won't exactly need to worry much about those other things, will you? |
