Summary: | According to the "Stage," it is quite evident that this is a play to be taken very seriously. It certainly is. The blandishments of female publisher's agents, the sausages, the traipsing back and forth between hovels in Fulham and hovels in Spain - these are the very stuff of modern life. The only criticism one might make is that the plot does breathe a certain gloom which would not go down too well with West End audiences. It seems to me to cry out for the hand of Theatre Toolroom. You will notice that I have transferred the sad tale of Honey O'Hara to hovels in Soho and Ireland. No British theatregoer can be relied on to have heard of Fulham or Spain. |
