Summary:Much of the substance of his article appears to have been lifted from Trail Of The Octopus, first published in 1993, a critical analysis of the Anglo-American case against the two accused Libyans. Although [Russell Warren] Howe refers to the book by its title, he is apparently unaware that I was its author and Lester Coleman, the former American intelligence agent who blew the whistle on the cover-up, was its subject. Amid the volleys of conjecture masquerading as fact is Howe's assertion that the bomb which destroyed Pan Am 103 over Lockerbie was detonated by a barometric switch. But, according to the indictment, the prosecution's crucial piece of forensic evidence is a fragment of a simple timing device of Swiss manufacture, said to have been supplied exclusively to the Libyan government.
