Summary:WINNIE Madikizela Mandela looked likely to make a big comeback in South African politics yesterday, when the African National Congress announced she was ranked 10th in the list of preferred candidates for the forthcoming general election. The decision to place Mrs Mandela in the top 10 candidates for the elections on May 18-27 was made despite her having been denounced by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, led by Bishop Desmond Tutu, for her knowledge of, and possible participation in, killings and torture during the apartheid regime. But Kgalema Motlanthe, secretary-general of the ANC, said: `This is a reflection of how ANC members feel {about Mrs Mandela}. It is an expression of confidence.'
