Summary:A quite magnificent innings from Iain Sutcliffe has given Leicestershire the scent of the victory they need to stay in contention for the title. Only Phil Tufnell, who bowled a marathon spell of 30 consecutive overs from the Pavilion End, caused Sutcliffe any problem at all on a flat, slow pitch. From the moment he walked to the middle after Darren Maddy had carved a catch to Mark Ramprakash at cover off Jamie Hewitt with the total at 18, Sutcliffe was in complete control. His timing was superb and his shot selection sublime. He drove imperiously off front and back foot and anything short was cut effortlessly to the boundary.
