Summary:One gardener -- we'll call him Bob -- tells the story of how he was shaken from sleep one April Sunday morning by the drone of the neighbour's chainsaw. He cursed aloud as he stared at his alarm clock which declared the ungodly hour of 8 a.m. A little later, still piqued, Bob pointed his stereo speaker out the window and cranked the volume and kept it blaring long after the chainsaw had stopped. Before you eradicate those pesky dandelions, consider where the wind might blow airborne herbicide -- hopefully not on to your neighbour's prize tomato plants. Who will trim the common hedge? Would your neighbour mind you planting a tree that may one day cast a shadow across his deck? And of course, is there a "best" time to crank up the leaf blower? Graphic: Illustration, Pierre A.
