Summary: | Neither actually, but imparting learning is the mainstay of this business, and apart from Anita Fulton, group legal affairs director, there are no other legal eagles nesting there. It is an international publisher of illustrated reference books, multimedia and broadcast programmes. It was founded in 1974 as a book production company, by the current chairman and chief exec Peter Kindersley and Christopher Dorling, now retired. It began publishing in its own right in 1982, and is now originating around 175 books a year. It is best known to a generation of parents for high-quality illustrated children's encyclopaedias and has become Europe's biggest producer of multimedia CD-ROM based titles. It is also involved in other electronic publishing ventures, including producing television programmes. |
