Summary:While there is agreement on defects, there is no agreement on the number of planks affected and needing replacement. "While Mr. [Kie K. Lee] has identified approximately 80 planks, the company has identified a much smaller amount that contained defects on visual examination," Mr. [Rob Forgie] said. Nevertheless, the company has agreed to replace three boxes of planks at no extra charge. The concerns raised about the quality of the product and the method of repairs are not legitimate, the store manager suggests. "While other companies may have provided Mr. Lee with opinions on their suggested method of resolution, this was done without them having performed an onsite visit to truly assess the extent of the defects as well as the method of repair," Mr. Forgie said. "For example, the suggested method of repair (glue) would be sufficient for sporadic planks that are covering a large area of floor space versus defective planks that are covering a small room." Mr. Forgie said that gluing is a standard method of repairing hardwood planks and "is not considered to be substandard or inferior."
