Adrienne Clarkson at the Intercontinental Hotel just steps away from the basilica, some of the mourners who had packed the streets to watch the funeral on a giant television screen also found their way into the reception. Guests included actress Margot Kidder, who has been romantically linked to Mr. Trudeau, as well as a who's who of Canadian politics. Mr. Trudeau's funeral was the culmination of five sorrow-filled days for Mr. [Don Boudria]. Although he said his spirit was lifted by how Canadians celebrated Mr. Trudeau's life in the past week, the funeral was a stark reminder of the finality of death. "Today I felt despondent with grief, like I did when I heard the news of his death." Madame Clarkson also made time for a private 15-minute tete-a- tete with Fidel Castro. While Mr. Castro did not attend the full gathering, he spoke briefly to Madame Clarkson in a room to one side of the reception, said Mr. [Stewart Wheeler].
