Summary: | Lakewood is not only a running school. Shot putter Sydney Murray leads the Ocean County pack by hurling the shot put 53-4 1/4, also against Pinelands. However, his throw pales in comparison to the throw of Toms River East's James Gilligan in 1984. Gilligan's throw measured 63-6. [Cory Schoonover]'s teammate, Joe Conklin, threw the javelin farther than anyone in the county this year. His throw of 157-0 came against [Donovan] on April 2. However he has a way to go if he wants to set the mark. Southern Regional's Dave Hickman has one of Ocean's longest standing records when he tossed the javelin 215-6 32 years ago. Pinelands' Rob Giglio is another one who is one of Ocean County's finest, but has a way to go to become the county's best ever. |
