Summary:We are short of oil, getting short of natural gas and are the Saudi Arabia of coal. However, there are many more sources of energy, including nuclear, dams, wood, waste, thermal electric and the ones environmentalists currently talk about a great deal - photovoltaic (solar cells), wind and bio fuels. As less than 50 percent of our electric generation capacity is being used at night, we can use electricity to fuel our transportation. Easier said than done. The American public has voted on electric cars and the result was a resounding "No." Bio-fuels and fuel cells powered by hydrogen need more research and develop-ment funding. We can see the charm of hybrids, but that brings us back to electric vehicles. The question is, "How does the American public learn to love electric cars?"
