Summary: | Three choices, the black-capped chickadee, common loon and snowy owl probably shouldn't have even been in the finals. They're already provincial birds, surely we can come up with something original. Not that they wouldn't be good choices, the black-capped chickadee was found in every province and territory until 1999. Nunavut was formed from the eastern part of the Northwest Territories and the boundary line just missed the black-capped's range, although I'm sure the odd one is coaxed across the line with the aid of a sunflower seed or peanut. The black-capped chickadee isn't unique to Canada and it's already the New Brunswick bird. |
