Summary:We have the freedom to practice our faiths, speak our mind and participate in, challenge and oversee our governance. We are protected by law to be treated fairly and without fear of autocratic persecution or repression, notwithstanding the bodies we were born into, the state of our health or our political perspectives. Now, we too are facing new problems. We are becoming more polarized, with a declining middle class. We have renewed conflict with differences in race, religion and ethnic origins. We are engaged in seemingly endless wars. We are ideologically divided and are challenged to bridge the gaps between fellow Americans. There is no guarantee of success, but if we don't work together to maintain our civilization, we will likely descend to the fear and deprivation that all too often has been the fate of failed human societies.
