Summary:"I came on as a substitute in the last five minutes. It was cold and rainy and the field was wet. There wasn't a big crowd and I wasn't really nervous, just very excited. I remember the coach telling me 'get up, you're going on, this is your weather', because I'm from the Western Cape," [Leandra Smeda] said. "When I started there were only boys' teams. They only got girls' teams at a later stage when the clubs were told to start ladies' teams as well. That's when I started playing with girls, but women's football wasn't popular so there weren't many teams. The high school I attended didn't have a girls' team at first so I used to play for another school's team."
