Summary:  Most people make the mistake of getting a dog when they're assembling a family. It's a disaster. The children will love it for about an hour-and-a-half until it chews either their toes or their toys. For the first two days there'll be a mad rush to take him for a walk. After that, you daren't say the word W-A-L-K-I-E-S, not because it excites the dog but because it causes the kids to disappear. By 10 o'clock however, he's up and about. Gone is Kevin the lazy teenager. Now he turns into Captain Mainwaring from Dad's Army. He's on full alert for all his professional commitments. Some may say he's even a trifle bossy. Pick up the first leaf, then another and another, and by the time he'd got five or six in his mouth he'd go for another one - and they'd all blow away. He'd just start all over again.
