Summary:In an unrelated incident, 22nd District police were called to the 1400 block of Poplar St. in response to a report of gunfire. At around 1 a.m. on Thursday, police arrived and found a gunshot victim inside the 3rd floor apartment. He had been shot in the head and was identified as Darron Birch, 24. The victim's roommates were on the scene when police arrived. Birch was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:15 a.m. location. The driver of the Toyota, identified as Louis John Vogwill, 59, from the 6100 block of Loretto St., allegedly fled the scene, but was quickly arrested by police with the help of a witness who observed the incident and intercepted Vogwill.
