Since the '30s, the business at the corner of Bibb Street and Madison Avenue was one of downtown Montgomery's bustling businesses, providing barbers, beauticians, hairdressers and cosmetology schools with thousands of products and industry-based equipment. In 1937, he approached his then boss with a novel idea on how to expand the business and improve revenue -- why not sell both barber and beauty supplies? "The owner of the business did not want to expand," Kevin Johnson said.
