Delhi implemented the RTI in 2001, four years before it was enacted by the Centre. It was time to try. [Ashok Gupta] wanted to know the names of DVB officials who were sitting on his application. He did not get the names but was provided the connection immediately. This gave me the idea of the immense power of citizen empowerment. I went on long leave and pursued the RTI campaign in full swing. In February 2006, I finally resigned from the government.
