Summary:The main purpose of this paper is to offer an interpretation of the phonetic values of the Proto-Eskimo-Aleut set of fricatives and affricates taking into account the diachronic typology of their results in the daughter languages. Besides that, it is the intention of the author to comment in detail on the evolution both in Proto-Eskimo-Aleut and Proto-Eskimo of the word-internal cluster *-ty-.
