Summary:This paper aims to investigate how secondary & high school students, as well as those who study at private language courses, view their English textbook. A total of 260 students from Cacador, SC, answered a questionnaire that elicited their opinions, conceptions & critical standpoint on this learning resource. The data were analyzed from both a general & contextual perspective aiming to find out similarities & differences among the teenagers' responses. It was possible to conclude that the teachers' methodology seems to influence the students' conceptions about what an English textbook must offer & how it should be evaluated. Tables, References.
