Summary:Outlines a research plan to investigate attitudes toward TV soap operas in six different regions of Mexico, where such programming is part of the connection between the culture industry & social life. In the case of the soap opera, Mirada de mujer (A Women's View), the theme contrasts the subordinate role of wives & mothers with the possibility of advancing a professional career. The network-based methodology uses 54 focus groups & 6 groups (using the ASBI1 technique with visual prompts) with males & females, ages 35-45. The research schedule & planned means of disseminating the results are discussed. 2 Tables. Adapted from the source document.
