Summary:The 2005 production of the TV series Contra Viento y Marea (Against Wind & Tide) on Televisa was aired amidst debate over the government of Colima's support of its production in order to encourage tourism to Colima. In this study of production of & reception to this series, Covarrubias & Uribe (2005) interviewed 120 producers, directors, & others, & conducted focus groups with consumers. In their interview with the executive producer Nicandro Diaz Gonzalez, he describes his initial contact with Televisa, his work under Valentin Pimstein, & other personalities at Televisa. He explains the reasons for choosing Colima for the series, support they received from the Colima government, & problems encountered in costs & production. Diaz would like to become a major series producer. The interviewers discuss the culture of improvisation that needs to be in place when shooting on natural sites. References. M. Pflum
