NANO-SIZED BaSnO3 POWDER VIA A PRECURSOR ROUTE: STUDY OF SINTERING BEHAVIOUR AND MECHANISM OF AND COARSE-GRAINED POWDERS

Very fine BaSnO3 powders were prepared by the of a barium tin 1,2-ethanediolato complex and their sintering behaviour is described. A calcination process to 820 C led to a nm-sized powder with a specific surface area of S = 15.1 (d(av) = 55 nm). The powder had a slightly larger parameter of a = 412....

Summary:Very fine BaSnO3 powders were prepared by the of a barium tin 1,2-ethanediolato complex and their sintering behaviour is described. A calcination process to 820 C led to a nm-sized powder with a specific surface area of S = 15.1 (d(av) = 55 nm). The powder had a slightly larger parameter of a = 412.22(7) pm compared to the crystal value, which decreased with increasing temperature and reached the reference value above C. The sintering behaviour of fine and BaSnO3 powders was compared. Corresponding powder of the nano-sized BaSnO3 achieved a relative of 90% after sintering at 1600 C for 1 h and at C and a soaking time of 30 h, whereas powder compacts reached only 80% of the relative at 1650 C (10 h). Furthermore, the shrinkage of fine and coarse-grained powder compacts were and are discussed.
