Increasing the yield limit of a multiphase steel due to aging and the effect of TRIP deformation

Summary:Strain ageing at room temperature associated to TRIP (TRansformation Induced Plasticity) effect in 300M steel with multiphase microstructure (ferrite, bainite, martensite and retained austenite), was studied after intercritical and isothermal heat treatments. The pre-deformation conditions used, resulted in transformation of the retained austenite in martensite (TRIP effect). The results obtained for the yield strength were in a surprising increase of up to 87%, doesn't have references in the literature on that phenomenon for that type of steel.
