Summary:The isothermal precipitation kinetics of Nb(C,N) in strained austenite of a Nb-microalloyed steel was quantitatively investigated using electrical resistivity (ER) and interrupted compression methods and validated with transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The difference in precipitation start time (P(s)) between the two methods is too small to compare the accuracy of the methods. The precipitation finish time (P(f)) exhibits the larger difference between the two methods. The interrupted compression method gives too early P(f) because of particle growth with holding time.
