Summary:This office building, designed by MacCormac Jamieson 1 Prichard, is located in one of London's most challenging and historic settings, Paternoster Square, adjacent to St Paul's Cathedral. Unusually for the London processional route, much of the precast cladding, including spandrels and mullions, features exposed concrete, testimony to the quality of Techrete's workmanship and the strides that the precast cladding industry as a whole has made in recent times. Units were acid-etched concrete and also faced with Portland stone and red sandstone tiles. The panels spanned 6m and 9m weighing up to 14 tonnes each. The seven-storey building, with its highly articulated indented facades, married the complex architectural design with the client's requirement for fast-track erection. The need for precisely engineered and high-quality units was achieved at Techrete's new state-of-the-art factory at Brigg, North Lincolnshire. Double-glazed window units were fitted to the precast panels prior to delivery. Integral drainage systems were also incorporated at the factory.
