Summary:St Francis didn't have a message so much as a method, away of being. In his mind, there was nothing to interpret. Shortly before his death on October 4, 1226, he wrote: 'I strictly command all my cleric and lay brothers, not to place any gloss upon my words by saying: "They should be understood in this way."' Gunfights were news in Tombstone, Arizona but not headline news. One local paper, The Tombstone Epitaph, had a regular column for them titled 'Deaths Doings'. But the gunfight on the afternoon of October 26, 1881 was different. 'Three Men Hurled Into Eternity in the Duration of a Moment' was the Epitaph's headline; three more were wounded. One of the dead, Billy Clanton, was still in his teens.
