Summary: | In this paper, we investigate the steady state thermal stresses in an elastic thick plate containing an oblate spheroidal inhomogeneity, when the circle regions of radius d of the upper surface is heated and the one of lower surface is cooled. The solution is deduced with using thermoelastic displacement potential and Papkovich-Neuber displacement potentials. Numerical results are presented for different heat areas, inclusion shapes and sizes, and the stress distributions in the vicinity of the inhomogeneity are illustrated graphically. |
