Solid-state synthesis of potassium beta - and beta double prime -gallates

Direct synthesis of K- beta - and beta double prime -gallates by Ga sub(2)O sub(3)-K sub(2)O solid-state reaction is described. The formation of K- beta - or beta double prime -gallates depends on the initial Ga sub(2)O sub(3) phase. alpha -Ga sub(2)O sub(3) leads to K- beta -gallate; beta -Ga sub(2...

Summary:Direct synthesis of K- beta - and beta double prime -gallates by Ga sub(2)O sub(3)-K sub(2)O solid-state reaction is described. The formation of K- beta - or beta double prime -gallates depends on the initial Ga sub(2)O sub(3) phase. alpha -Ga sub(2)O sub(3) leads to K- beta -gallate; beta -Ga sub(2)O sub(3) leads to K- beta double prime -gallate. K- beta double prime -Gallate is stable < 1200 degree C. The high temperature stability of K- beta double prime -gallate can be enhanced by doping with aliovalent ions.
