Vortex-lattice melting in HgBa sub(2)CaCu sub(2)O sub(6+ delta ): Changes in dimensionality

The irreversibility line (IL) of magnetically grain-aligned samples of HgBa sub(2)CaCu sub(2)O sub(6+ delta ) was determined from magnetization measurements with the magnetic field, H, parallel to the c-axis. Summary:The irreversibility line (IL) of magnetically grain-aligned samples of HgBa sub(2)CaCu sub(2)O sub(6+ delta ) was determined from magnetization measurements with the magnetic field, H, parallel to the c-axis. For H < 1 T, the IL is well fitted by a model of three-dimensional flux line lattice melting due to thermal fluctuations. For H > 1 T, the IL behaves quite differently, being properly modeled by the melting of a quasi-two-dimensional lattice. copyright 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
