Summary:The corrosion behavior of nanostructured Cu sub 90 Ni sub 10 alloys in neutral solution containing different chloride concentrations has been investigated. The passivity of the alloy and the influence of the crystal structure have been examined. A critical chloride concentration for the passive behavior of the alloys has been determined. The comparison between nanostructured and coarse grained Cu sub 90 Ni sub 10 alloys shows a decrease in the protective properties of the passive layer in the nanostructured alloy. Some possible reasons to explain this behavior have been discussed. Graphs, Photomicrographs, Diffraction Patterns., 16 ref.
